Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can you clean these blinds?
A: Usually, yes. There are a few exceptions, but in general, if you’ve got blinds or shades that need cleaning, we can handle it. There is no size limit. Call us, and we’ll come to your house or business for a free evaluation.
Q: What’s ultrasonic cleaning?
A: Ultrasonic cleaning is a process that uses sound waves to “vibrate” dirt off of an object. We put a special detergent in a tank of warm water, and then immerse the blinds in this bath. A “transducer” will send millions of tiny, powerful bubbles in to collide with all the parts of your blinds, removing dirt from fabric, head rail, cords, ladders—you name it! The blinds will come out fresh and clean, looking almost like new.
Q: How long does it take?
A: When we go to your house or business to pick up your blinds, we usually return them within 3–4 days. If it’s a bigger job or we’re really busy, it may take longer. We’ll give you an estimated time when we come out to your house.
Q: Do you service my area?
A: We service Manhattan, Massapequa, Massapequa Park, Garden City, North Long Island, Lindenhurst, Commack, Fort Washington, Bay Shore, Queens, and Merrick; but call us and we still may be able to come out.
Q: Can ultrasonic cleaning get mold out?
A: Yes! And if we don’t remove that mold, you don’t pay.
Q: Are there blinds that can’t be cleaned?
A: Unfortunately, yes. Blackout shades cannot be cleaned ultrasonically—the microscopic waves strip them. Sun damage cannot be fixed. And certain stains in fabric (for example, curry on your kitchen blinds) cannot be wholly removed. We’ll evaluate your blinds and explain everything to you when we give you a free estimate.
Q: Are the chemicals in ultrasonic blind cleaning safe?
A: Yes. At Island Ultrasonic Blind Cleaning & Repairs, we’ve done the research, and the special detergent we use is 100% safe. There are no risks to children or pets after an ultrasonic blind cleaning.
